You can see how search engine BOT are seeing your website or blog. There are many free SEO tools online to help you optimize your website, this is one of them. But this tool is very important and must have for professionals because it will give you a very good idea for search engine optimization. For those of you who are not familiar with how search engine bots crawl your blog or website, let me give you a small introduction below.
A search engine BOT or search engine crawler does not see your website like human, like how we see a website. They do not have eyes, as a result they cannot see images and media files including flash movie. Only things they can do are scan text, jump from link to link and backup all the content to the search engines server so that searcher can get the result as soon as they run the search query.
Yes, i am talking about text browser. This is a very powerful and essential tool for SEO. The download link for text browser is attatched below with this post (please look for the link at the end of the post). This version of text browser is compatible with Windows 95, 98, NT, 2000, XP, and even Windows Vista. After you extract the zip file, create a shortcut of lynx.exe file (should look like a normal windows DOS file) on your desktop (select the file, click on the right mouse button and click “Send To” desktop). Once you created the shortcut, it’s ready to operate. Go to your desktop and double click on the shortcut lynx.exe icon. Since at the very beginning it will open Google homepage, the browser will ask you twice if you want to accept cookies that Google will try to send you. You can either accept it or reject it, it’s up to you. Here is a screenshot of Google on text browser.
It might take a while before you get used to all the text browser commands. If you work with lynx or Windows DOS, it might be a little bit easier for you.
There is another way you can view your website through text browser like this one. It’s made by Domaintools and it’s actually an ajax text browser. Go to www.domaintools.com, enter the domain name in the search box and click on search. It will open a window with all the information of your domain. The SEO Text Browser is located on the right hand side after the screenshot of the domain. One unique feature of this ajax text browser is, it uses Google’s new “nofollow” command and show the page accordingly.
